At Kapapsheffield we are here to help people, and our goal is to offer the cutting edge in self protection together with fitness classes and personal growth. For every type of human body that walks through our door.

Not just athletic body's, (although they will certainly find themselves feeling very at home here as well) but to professionals who have to work 40 hours a week - to women of all ages - to the elderly, looking to get into shape, have fun, and to learn self protection.

Also to people who want to invest in themselves by learning something really useful in a positive atmosphere of friendship and fun.

Self Protection, Kickboxing, Body Conditioning, Boxing and Grappling.

Gloves, Wraps, Shin & Elbow Pads and Head Protection is required for Kickboxing Classes and sometimes for our Personal Protection Classes depending on the curriculum that day.

Personal Protection:

Are you interested in learning to defend yourself against muggings, multiple attackers, weapons attacks (knife, stick, and firearms), and trained fighters (like boxers and grapplers)?

Or would you like to learn edged and impact weapons tactics, joint manipulation and limb destruction techniques, throws and takedowns, striking techniques or ground fighting tactics?

If your answer to either question or both, is "YES" you have come to the right place.

The primary goal of our personal protection, self defence classes, is to enhance survivability, health and conditioning.

For men and women from all walks of life.... Kapapsheffield has a self protection system for everyone!

Kapapsheffield covers all ranges of hand to hand combat, Close Quarter Combat, ground fighting, grappling, boxing, and kicking tools which are fundamentally explored and trained in a realistic manner.

Our training curriculum is designed to enhance your survivability. You will learn to heighten your awareness and accurately read your intuition in order to avoid violence, aggression and confrontation.

You will learn to de-escalate and defuse a potential aggressive or violent situation using psychological warfare and strategy.

You will also learn to physically defend yourself against the most common attacks on the street if avoidance and de-escalation failed.

Kapap and Senshido have a long and credible history and are regarded by many as the best self-defence system's around. We know that these systems work and that they work under stress conditions.

All our techniques have been tried and tested in real life situations.

When training with us you can be rest assured that you are learning principals with proven effectiveness. The skills are quickly learned and never forgotten since we use the natural reflexive response mechanism as a starting point and abide by the physiological rules that govern the human body.

The systems that we teach are constantly tested and updated with the most current skills available ie: legal, mental and physical.

In our classes we offer a no nonsense down to earth training that has stripped away the non essentials. There are no belts, no uniforms, no memorised movements, no competitions and no politics.

Our training methods teach self defence principles that work regardless of the threat or technique they are simple to learn and easy to remember.

We use realistic training scenarios that are based on actual case studies so you know that you are going to receive practical skills that work in the real world. The systems that we teach are the latest know how from the specialist fields of security, anti terrorism, police tactics, modern warfare and most of all realistic urban/street fighting.

Kapap's philosophy is that no one has the right to interfere with you with malicious intent and anyone who does, should be dealt with immediately and aggressively – the priority being that you are safe and secure at the end of the day.

Senshido Principles are based on natural patterns of psychological & physical defenses, as well as human behaviour in relation to extreme violence, aggression, desperation, drugs and alcohol.

These principles have been acquired through real life experiences and extensive research, as well as countless interviews with rape and assault victims and individuals in high-risk occupations.

Whether you are a housewife or a security professional, we have a program that will enable you to achieve your personal security goals and meet your self-defence needs.


Kickboxing Adults:

The explosive, upbeat cardiovascular workout emphasis’s footwork, body mechanics, kicking and punching combinations and basic defensive and offensive techniques.

The focus is not to hit hard and "damage" other members of the class – aggressive behaviours is not welcome in our school.

However, it is to learn an art form, improve confidence and fitness – at the same time as having fun.

Kapapsheffield's Kickboxing has a competitive advantage in the fact that all of its instructors are fully qualified martial art instructors.

So the foundations of the classes rest securely on martial arts as opposed to aerobic qualifications.

However, the classes are much more relaxed than the more traditional martial arts schools.

Each student is free to progress at his or her own pace. There is not too much pressure on getting things absolutely "right" but we always encourage trying and improving individual performance.

The session will offer many practical techniques that may work in any number of different situations.

Our classes are interactive, giving you the opportunity not only to try out these techniques and gain confidence in using them, but also the ability to ask questions along the way and even ask to be shown a solution to a problem you may have faced.

We also hope to have some fun!

Our classes are neither violent nor aggressive and cater for all shapes and sizes and levels of fitness as the classes are not aerobically demanding every week.


Kickboxing Kids:

Our Kids Kickboxing class is a no-nonsense practical self defense program that incorporates concepts and techniques from Kickboxing, Submission Grappling, Kapap, Senshido and Weapons training.

We teach kids to be leaders!

Self defense is a cornerstone of our training!

Protecting oneself is an important lifeskill that should not be undervalued. That is why we teach children how to defend themselves against the many things that kids face today such as bullies and negative peer pressure to take drugs and alcohol etc...

Our realistic class training will teach your child how to protect themselves, standing up or on the ground. We also teach them about conflict resolution and the appropriate times to use their skills.

The skills your child learns will last a lifetime!

When your kids train with us, you as a parent will see significant changes come about in your son or daughter:

They will have an increase in self-confidence, creating an "I am a winner attitude".
They will learn a new found respect towards themselves and others.
They will become the leaders in their peer groups instead of the followers.
There will be an improvement in their grades and school work.
They will have an increase in self discipline, knowing to do what is expected of them all the time.
These positive changes develop characteristics to help your child not become involved with gangs, drugs, alcohol, or other detrimental habits.
They also give your child the strength to say "NO" to negative and harmful peer pressure.

This is the training for your child to improve coordination, confidence, body awareness, respect, and etiquette.

It enables children to have a true sense of personal growth and gives them the self defense skills to back him/her up so he/she doesn't have to feel intimidated to stand up for what he/she believes.


Body Conditioning:

The focus of our Body Conditioning classes are to improve your strength, conditioning, agility and balance as well as overall fitness.

Our classes concentrate on strengthening the "core" while providing a full body work out.

Having "core strength" is important in most sports, martial arts, personal protection, fitness activities, daily activities, and improves posture.

Our classes will help you to achieve your fitness goals as well as challenging yourself beyond what you think you are capable of.

Boxing/Grappling/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu:

Our Boxing/Grappling class is a mixed martial arts workout incorporating cardio fitness, training in Thai Boxing, Boxing and Arlans Sequeira BJJ.

This class is an alround fighting workout.


Kempo Ju-Jitsu:

Kempo Ju-Jitsu is a devastating self-defence art. It involves low kicks, open and closed hand attacks and ground submission holds. This is not an art for sport, it is designed with the sole purpose of self protection and disabling an attacker.

Kempo Ju-Jitsu emphasizes manipulation of balance points - head, shoulders, hips, knees. The principles of Kempo Jitsu are "Distract - Off Balance - Re-direct - Incapacitate". In the lessons you will learn techniques as well as practical application of these techniqueson.

Kempo Ju-Jitsu is not a "pretty" art, it is "down and dirty", "mean and to the point". Kempo Ju-Jitsu is designed strictly with self-defence in mind, neutralizing your attacker's threat by various degrees of force. The degree of force that you use to accomplish this depends on the required level of defence as dictated by the force of the attack itself. The lessons contain basic and advanced self defence manoeuvres, conditioning of the mind and body, defence against weapons, real life scenarios, engaging and disengaging the groundon.

Some of the techniques taught are the palm strikes, elbow strikes, punches and back-fists. The Knee strike is also a formidable weapon for self defence. In a self defence situation, you should always keep your kicks low to the body or legs.
In a street fight, if you try to kick to your attackers head, it leaves you standing on one leg making you vulnerable to being taken down to the ground. Also, if you are in a self defence situation, you want to be in one of two places, either as far away as possible or as close as possible. If you are unable to get far away and put something between you and your opponent, then you should try to grab and get as close as possible. The basic knee strike is a devastating and effective close range techniqueon.

Kempo Ju-Jitsu teaches various "pinch and grab" techniques. Grabbing ears, hair, the tender skin on the inside of the arms or legs. These painful distractions, can provide you with the time needed to escape or the extra room needed between you and an opponent that is trying to hold you in tight so that you can strike or get awayon.

Defence from Weapons is a part of Kempo Ju-Jitsu also. Knife and sticks are the weapons that we are focused on. Action must always be quicker than re-action. So, if you 'act', you will take your opponent by surprise and disarm him before he can react. It takes a second or two for him to recognize that you have moved, a second or two is an eternity in a self-defence situation.
